While a 7-11 shopper had his back turned, a man allegedly grabbed a glass jar of salsa from a shelf and launched it at him so hard that it exploded and caused injuries.
31-year-old Le’trail Antwan Tresalus lives in St. Petersburg, Florida.
On June 23, around 8:00 pm, Tresalus reportedly went to a local 7-11 convenience store.
While inside, Tresalus allegedly grabbed an ice cream treat and concealed it.
A few patrons were inside the establishment, and Tresalus reportedly walked over to the area where the non-perishable groceries are kept on shelves.
According to the police report, Tresalus allegedly took a glass jar of Tostitos salsa from the shelf and forcefully threw it in the direction of a shopper who had his back turned.
The 15.5-ounce jar reportedly slammed against the alleged victim’s body so hard that it shattered when it struck him.
The authorities were notified, and the St. Petersburg Police Department sent officers to the location to investigate the situation.
When they arrived, statements were collected from the man who was allegedly struck with the tomato-based dip, and a shopper who reportedly witnessed the event.
The police recorded that the alleged victim had injuries they believe were sustained from the jar hitting him.
Tresalus, who was found with the ice cream he had not paid for, was placed under arrest and booked into the Pinellas County Jail on a $4500 bond. He is expected to face charges for suspicion of felony battery and felony theft. It was reported that the offenses would typically be misdemeanors, but Tresalus has priors for battery and theft, which allows them to charge him with felonies.
According to jail records, Tresalus is still incarcerated and awaiting his trial for the allegations.
