A Florida man was accused of dumping the contents of a backpack filled with human waste and other substances onto his former girlfriend after she returned to collect her belongings from his apartment, according to authorities.
The alleged victim told the authorities she went back to the apartment after temporarily leaving following a separate confrontation. When she arrived, she allegedly found the man outside holding her backpack. Investigators alleged the bag contained feces, urine, ketchup, hot sauce, and other unknown substances before the contents were dumped onto her.
The incident came after the alleged victim had reported multiple earlier encounters with the man. She told the authorities that during a June visit to his apartment, the two had consensual sex before she claimed he allegedly began slapping her. She said the alleged assault continued even after she asked him to stop.
The alleged victim also reported another confrontation later that month while the two were arguing. She alleged the man grabbed her by the neck and strangled her until she struggled to breathe. She claimed he laughed during the incident before eventually letting go.
According to a probable cause affidavit, the man allegedly admitted to investigators that he slapped the alleged victim during the earlier encounter because he was trying something new and the situation went too far. He also allegedly admitted to strangling her, saying he had anger issues and sometimes could not control them.
Investigators further alleged the man admitted putting waste and other items in the backpack as retaliation because he believed the alleged victim had been unfaithful. He reportedly said he threw the backpack afterward and could not remember where the contents had landed.
The authorities arrested the 20-year-old man on one count of domestic violence strangulation and two counts of domestic violence battery. Court records showed he was later released after posting a $4,000 bond, with electronic monitoring and a no-contact order as conditions of his release.
