Police Led on Chase While Man Finished Hamburger

When a driver was targeted for a traffic stop, he reportedly made the police chase him so that he could finish eating the hamburger he purchased.

37-year-old Alan Jermaine Seaberry lives in Monroe, Louisiana.

According to reports, late in the evening on January 18, Seaberry was allegedly driving a red Chevy Impala a few miles from his residence.

Just after 11:00 pm, an on-duty officer with the Monroe Police Department noticed a red Impala as it drove past him. The officer reported that the driver was using the high beam headlights when it was not necessary, and he claimed it diminished his field of vision.

The officer signaled the driver to let them know he wanted them to pull over, and it was reported that the man behind the wheel of the Chevy did not comply.

As reported in the affidavit, the driver sped up and forced the police to chase him. Though they were driving through a 25 MPH area, the authorities asserted that the man was going 60 MPH as they trailed behind him.

After reportedly leading them around for a while, the driver pulled up to a residence later identified as his home.

The police arrived at the same time, and they reported that when the man stepped out of the Impala, he had a burger in his hand.

When he spoke to the authorities, they identified him as Seaberry. The man reportedly explained that he did not immediately stop because the brakes on his car failed, and he also wanted to eat the rest of his burger.

Nearly an hour after the traffic stop was initiated, Seaberry was taken into custody and booked into the Ouachita County Correctional Facility. Seaberry, who was found to have failed to appear at a previous court date, is facing new charges of driving without a license and driving without current insurance.
