Patriots Fan Arrested Before Super Bowl to Prevent Possible Accidents

On February 5, 2017, following the 51^st Super Bowl game, a man who authorities came to believe was driving under the influence of alcohol was involved in a hit-and-run accident when his vehicle made impact with a bicyclist. He reportedly drove off quickly without stopping after the incident took place.

An investigation to locate the perpetrator of the accident, which occurred in Laguna Niguel, was opened by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. Their findings led them to believe that the person responsible for the event was 53-year-old Timothy Anthony Cronin.

As a part of their year-long inspection of the evidence, authorities collected statements from people who had been in his presence that day, and those interrogated informed deputies that Cronin, a proclaimed New England Patriots fan, was allegedly intoxicated on Super Bowl Sunday in 2017. Investigators surmised that Cronin was on his way home from a celebration and under the influence when the accident took place.

Dad who Injured 10-Year-Old Daughter in Crash Faces Charges

A father from Inglewood who was involved in a car accident allegedly caused by him driving under the influence of alcohol learned that he will face an upcoming trial for his charges. His 10-year-old daughter was a passenger in the front seat and she was initially reported in critical condition from the crash.

On October 6 Gil Paul Hernandez was driving through Torrance in his BMW with his daughter in the car. He has been accused of causing an accident involving three vehicles. According to witnesses at the scene Hernandez was driving erratically and at a high speed, and frequently changing lanes in order to pass other cars. His BMW crashed into a Chevrolet Impala in front of him, and he was unsuccessful in his attempt to stabilize the BMW before making impact with a Toyota Camry traveling on the opposite side of the street.

Officers arrived at the scene, and nearly an hour after the accident Hernandez agreed to breathalyzer tests which recorded 0.099 and 0.098 percent blood alcohol content. When he agreed to a blood test it came back as 0.09 percent. These numbers exceed the legal limit of 0.08 percent in the state of California.

Man Dubbed “Diaper Bandit” Leads Authorities on Chase with Child in Car

A Los Angeles man accused of stealing diapers from stores for close to a full year tried to escape police on Wednesday by leading them on a chase that resulted in an accident. A small child was in the car with the driver during the event.

23-year-old Darrion Tyrone Parker, a man Los Angeles County prosecutors have nicknamed the “diaper bandit,” has allegedly been involved in a string of robberies beginning in December 2016 and continuing through Wednesday. He is said to have stolen packages of diapers from various grocery stores and retail outlets in and around Long Beach by using threat of force, according to the DA’s office.

When Parker had attempted a robbery on Wednesday an employee of the store chased him into the parking lot and accosted him about his purported sticky fingers.

School Bus Driver Arrested for DUI 11 Minutes after Route Ended

On Tuesday afternoon in Warren County, Kentucky, a school bus driver was involved in a traffic accident with another vehicle eleven minutes after dropping off the last of the 25 middle school and high school passengers on his route. He was suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol.

As stated in the police report, Warren County Public School bus driver Robert Marlette made impact with a Dodge truck traveling in the opposite direction as the bus at 4:01 p.m. When the sheriff’s department arrived at the scene a deputy spoke with the driver of the truck, and he claimed Marlette was driving the school bus down the center of the road when it crashed into him.

A deputy interviewing Marlette reported that the accused had bloodshot eyes and smelled of liquor. After a preliminary breath test showed positive results, he was issued a standard field sobriety test which he failed. Marlette was arrested and taken to the hospital for medical clearance, and while there he consented to a blood draw.

Suspect Arrested 8 Months After 19-year-old Dies in Car Accident

Authorities reported that after an eight-month investigation, police arrested 25-year-old Matthew Ryan Wood of Seal Beach for allegedly causing a car accident while intoxicated, resulting in the death of a 19-year-old woman.

The crash took place on the afternoon of December 9, 2016. Wood was driving a pick-up truck eastbound when he passed over a painted center median resulting in a collision with a westbound traveling minivan driven by Lisa Shelhorn. Shelhorn was declared dead at the scene and Wood was in critical condition and treated at a local hospital.

Wood faces charges for suspicion of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence while intoxicated, transportation for sale of a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance with a firearm.

LA Deputy Accused of DUI

A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputy has been accused of driving under the influence after he allegedly caused a DUI-related accident. 38-year-old Richard J. Patterson of West Covina was off duty when he is accused of having crashed the motorcycle that he and his wife were on into another vehicle on the 405 freeway. Patterson was taken to the local hospital for a hip injury while his wife was hospitalized with a knee injury and abrasions to the arms and hands.

After investigation, it was determined that Patterson’s blood alcohol level was at 0.15 percent, two hours after the accident occurred. Patterson’s arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday where he faces charges of driving under the influence causing injury and driving with a blood-alcohol level of 0.08 percent or more causing injury. If convicted, Patterson could be facing probation or up to several years in state prison.
