A Texas corrections officer lost his job and is facing charges for allegedly bringing contraband, in the form of chicken wings, into the facility for an inmate who reportedly paid him for the alleged transaction.

According to reports, a 25-year-old man, who began working last summer as a corrections officer at the Travis County Correctional Complex in Austin, recently became embroiled in a situation involving an inmate who was housed in the facility. The inmate allegedly proposed a deal where the officer would be paid if he agreed to bring him chicken wings from Wingstop, and it was believed that the officer reportedly agreed to the terms. Correctional facilities are allowed to monitor the telephone communications of certain inmates, and things went awry when a Security Threat Intelligence Unit officer was listening in on a call that the inmate made to a family member.

It was reported that during the chat, the inmate shared the alleged plan to satisfy his craving for wings. He reportedly said he convinced an officer to get them for him by sending him $50.00 on CashApp. The authorities began investigating the situation, and they watched surveillance video that showed a food delivery driver dropping off a bag of chicken wings at the facility. The corrections officer retrieved it and ate some of them before allegedly giving the inmate a portion on a paper towel.

Two people in Florida were arrested for allegedly swiping wallets and purses out of a parked vehicle and trying to use one of the credit cards to purchase almost $3000 in merchandise.

Last Monday, several Gucci designer wallets and purses were reported stolen from a vehicle burglarized in Alachua. The key fob for the car was also taken. When the owners of the items realized they were missing, the authorities were notified.

It was reported that the bank began tracking the activity on the accounts associated with the missing cards, and one of them was used more than 30 times to try to pay for $2800 worth of merchandise. Several CashApp transfers were initiated, and someone tried to pay for items at a local Circle K using the allegedly stolen card.
