An argument between a man and a pregnant woman over a coveted parking space in a restaurant lot resulted in a criminal charge after he was accused of hitting her with his vehicle.

On the evening of October 3, a pregnant woman and her husband went to the Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant located in The Promenade at Coconut Creek shopping center. The couple had parked, but they saw a more desirable spot, and the woman stood in the space while her husband went to get their vehicle. Before he returned, a man with his wife in the passenger seat drove up and wanted to park in the spot. The woman continued to stand there, but the other driver reportedly said she was not allowed to reserve the parking place.

According to reports, the driver allowed the vehicle to roll forward slowly, and the woman got out of the way after it touched her knee. The man reportedly finished parking and went into the restaurant. The authorities were notified, and Deputies with the Broward County Sheriff’s Office went to the scene to investigate. When they talked to the alleged victim, she reportedly said she was afraid the man would have run her over if she hadn’t moved, and that her shoe came off during the incident. Coconut Creek Fire Rescue arrived, but it was determined that the woman did not need medical treatment.
