A Texas man accused of stealing more than $770,000 worth of diamond earrings from a Florida jewelry store rejected a plea deal and decided to represent himself at trial.
The 33-year-old defendant remained jailed without bond following his arrest in connection with a 2025 theft at a luxury jewelry store in Orlando. The authorities alleged that he stole two pairs of diamond solitaire earrings valued at more than $600,000 and $160,000.
Investigators said the man was arrested about six hours after the theft while driving on a Florida interstate several hundred miles away from Orlando. The authorities reportedly believed he was traveling back to Texas in a rented SUV.
