A Florida woman was taken into custody after she was accused of putting plastic Easter eggs filled with pornography and random items inside mailboxes at residences all over the county.
On April 5, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office reported that they started receiving complaints from many people who said they had found a plastic Easter egg filled with lewd images in their mailboxes.
Three nights later, the authorities said that calls resumed from disturbed residents in a different area with the same claims of finding toy plastic eggs filled with sexually explicit content in their mailboxes. Some of the callers additionally reported that they identified the person driving around distributing the allegedly offensive items as female.
Officers started searching the neighborhood from which the calls were coming. Around 11:20 PM they came across a Honda Civic that they believed was involved in the incidents reported on April 5.
When the police pulled over the driver, identified as 42-year-old Abril Cestoni, they began to question her about the plastic eggs and reported that she took responsibility for placing around 400 homemade pamphlets in individual mailboxes.
According to the police report, Cestoni had a bag of the pamphlets, which reportedly contained “extremely graphic and obscene” pictures and “incoherent rants” in the car.
Cestoni, who allegedly told the police her efforts were in an attempt to educate, reportedly said she was making the deliveries in the evenings after her shifts at Publix ended.
Cestoni was taken into custody and she is facing charges for 11 counts of distributing pornographic material, one count of driving without a valid license when it was allegedly discovered that she had her privileges taken for failure to pay child support, and a charge for conducting travel not related to an essential activity.
The police said that Cestoni was not showing symptoms of COVID-19, but after deeming her deranged it was stated that “she certainly needs some help.”
Cestoni is being held in the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility in lieu of a $7,000.00 bond.
