Kidnapped Girlfriend Escaped after Month of Horrific Torture

A man is facing many charges after he was accused of imprisoning his girlfriend and torturing her for a month until she was able to free herself.

29-year-old Saul Ortega resides in Modesto, California. He recently reportedly started a relationship with a 25-year-old woman that also lives in Modesto.

Last Saturday, the woman notified the authorities and said that she had been kidnapped by Ortega and held for about a month. She reported that she was able to escape.

Just after midnight, when the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office learned about the situation, they went to check on the woman. When they found her, they reported that she needed hospital treatment for the injuries seen all over her body.

The alleged said she was able to get away from Ortega two days prior, and she told the police she was scared to report the situation because he made threats against her family.

According to a news release from the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office, the woman was transported to a local medical center so they could treat the “extensive injuries to her body, including bruises and burns.”

Several law enforcement units banded together to investigate the alleged kidnapping.

A SWAT team went to Ortega’s residence around 8:30 am.

Ortega was taken into custody and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center. He is expected to face several charges including kidnapping, false imprisonment, rape, torture, mayhem, domestic violence, criminal threats, possession of cocaine with the intent to sell, and felon in possession of firearms. He is being held in lieu of $1,000,000 bail.

The authorities reported that the woman may not be the only person Ortega has victimized, and they are continuing their investigation.
