Rap artist Mystikal has been accused of physically and sexually assaulting a woman during a fight about $100 that he claimed she stole from him.
51-year-old hip hop star Mystikal, whose birth name is Michael Tyler, is a Grammy nominee from New Orleans. He has been involved in several prior criminal cases, such as domestic abuse battery, first-degree rape, and second-degree kidnapping. He is also a lifetime registered sex offender.
On July 30, Tyler was at his home in Ascension Parish with a female.
According to reports, Tyler and the woman got into an argument when he claimed that she owed him $100 and tried to get her to pay him back.
The disagreement reportedly escalated, and, according to the alleged victim, Tyler began to physically assault her. The woman reported that he choked her and struck her several times.
The alleged victim also reported that Tyler sexually assaulted her.
When the woman tried to leave his home, she alleged that Tyler denied her and forced her to use a money transfer app to make her pay the $100 he claimed she owed. The alleged victim said that he made her send him $150 from her account.
After she left the home, the woman went to a local hospital, and the authorities were notified.
The woman reportedly had minor injuries, and her clothing had been damaged in a way that the police determined was consistent with sexual assault.
Tyler was taken into custody and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail. He may face charges of first-degree rape, simple robbery, domestic abuse battery, strangulation, false imprisonment, and simple criminal damage to property.
On August 1, the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office posted a media release stating that the investigation into the allegations is ongoing.
