A father who was driving with his two teenage sons just after midnight on Wednesday was allegedly responsible for an accident when he made impact with a train in Santa Monica, and he is facing felony charges for the event.

54-year-old Anthony Manual Beltran Sr. of Waterford, Connecticut, was driving in Santa Monica with his two 16-year-old sons on April 18 at roughly 12:20 a.m.

Beltran reportedly failed to stop for a red light at an intersection causing his Kia sedan to smash into a moving Metro Expo Line train. When Santa Monica Police Department officers arrived at the scene they discovered the car with its airbags deployed and all of the passengers were in need of medical assistance. Officers suspected that Beltran had been drinking and they alleged that may have been the cause of the accident.

While driving to her wedding on Monday an Arizona bride was part of a collision involving three vehicles which resulted in her arrest based on allegations that she was driving while under the influence of alcohol.

On March 12 32-year-old Amber Young, adorned in her wedding gown, was driving through Marana, a city just north of Tucson, to her ceremony. En route to her destination Young was involved in a crash involving three cars.

When police arrived at the scene of the pileup they suspected that Young had been consuming alcohol. A breathalyzer test was not administered, but Young was taken into custody in order to provide a blood sample based on the allegations.

A student of University of Texas at Austin has been accused of driving while intoxicated after she smashed her car into a restaurant on Monday morning. She allegedly became confrontational with the officers when they tried to detain her.

21-year-old Esther Shim is a junior at UT’s College of Communication. She was driving in an area near campus dubbed The Drag which houses a strip of university shops and restaurants. Around 2:30am she was said to have driven her car through the front windows of a restaurant called Poke Bowl, and the momentum of the vehicle came to a stop when it plowed through the interior and into the bathroom of the establishment.

Two patrolling officers in the area heard Shim’s squealing tires and the sound of the collision. When they arrived at the site they found much of the restaurant structure had crumpled from the accident and was surrounding Shim’s car, trapping her inside.

In the early morning hours on Saturday, a man driving pickup truck slammed into a marked Santa Ana police car. He is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Police Commander Jeffrey Smith reported that 54-year-old Santa Ana resident Ignacio Roldan-Peralto and a female passenger were driving in a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado when a collision occurred. As Roldan-Peralto was making a left turn he slammed into a police vehicle as it was traveling through an intersection. The officer driving the cruiser was in the midst of responding to a call.

When the impact occurred it caused sizeable damage to both vehicles. The officer was transported to a local hospital by the Orange County Fire Authority. He was treated for minor injuries and has been declared in good condition. The officer’s name has not been released at this time. Roldan-Peralto and his companion did not sustain any injuries.

Herbert Granados Calderon, 26, pleaded guilty this week to causing a fatal collision between three cars while intoxicated. An 18-year-old was killed and five others were injured in this crash. The crash occurred in Santa Ana, when Calderon was speeding on Bristol and ran a red light. He broadsided a Honda Civic thereby killing the person in the back seat.

Calderon pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for the 2014 collision.

He was charged with murder because he pleaded guilty in 2013 to another DUI, Driving Under the Influence of alcohol or drugs. In 2013 he was read a Watson Warning. The Watson Warning simply states that drunk driving is dangerous to human life and if the defendant continues drive drunk and someone dies, they can be charged with second degree murder. The warning is usually part of any DUI plea.
