Last weekend, a deputy from the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office was patrolling when they reported that a pickup truck with what appeared to be the driver’s seat belt was hanging outside the vehicle. When the license plate was checked, the deputy discovered that the one on the truck was registered to a different car, and the registration tag was expired. The deputy turned on the lights and siren and performed a traffic stop. It was estimated that it took approximately 30 seconds for the driver to pull over and stop the truck, and the deputy noted that they believed it was longer than necessary.

When speaking with the deputy, the woman reportedly stated that the truck was registered in her name, but her license plate had fallen off, and she had borrowed one from a friend’s vehicle. She also allegedly said her driver’s license was suspended, and that she didn’t put on her seatbelt because she was in a hurry.
