Two people in southern Florida were accused of targeting individuals wearing expensive watches who were frequenting nightclubs and robbing them at gunpoint.

On August 2, the first of a string of alleged armed robberies took place after a man left the LIV Nightclub. When he returned to his Airbnb, an individual reportedly pulled a gun out and forced him to hand over his $80,000 Rolex watch and quickly left in a vehicle driven by another person. The following day, another alleged victim had their Rolex taken at gunpoint, and it was believed that the same suspect was involved. Several additional expensive timepieces had reportedly been taken from others in the area, many of whom encountered the suspect after leaving local clubs.

Several agencies worked together to investigate the incidents, including the Miami Beach Police Department, the City of Miami Police Department, the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office, and the Broward County Sheriff’s Office. Using footage from surveillance cameras, they were able to find out that the alleged getaway car belonged to the sister of a 30-year-old man. They suspected he was the perpetrator, and a woman who was previously convicted of similar crimes was the driver. They believed each alleged victim was followed home before being robbed at gunpoint. The authorities searched the man’s home for possible evidence of his involvement. While there, they reportedly found $16,400 and more than $176,000 worth of items they believed had been stolen.

A woman accused of stealing a man’s high-end watches reportedly tried to conceal them inside of her body before she was apprehended by the authorities.

A pair who met and spent time together inside of a nightclub in Miami Beach allegedly decided to leave the establishment and have a nightcap in the man’s nearby hotel room.

It was reported that the two had drinks together in the man’s room at the Clarion Suites into early morning hours. When the man excused himself to use the restroom, he returned to find that a Crown Royal bag he had that contained five watches worth just over $100,000 was not where he had left it.

Overnight between March 27 and March 28, several homeowners in the Dover Shores area of Newport Beach reported that someone had attempted to vandalize and burglarize their homes. Newport Beach spokeswoman Jennifer Manzella said, “In each of these cases, an unknown suspect had used brute force, possibly a kick, to force open the front door to the residence.”

Although nothing was taken in those incidents, witnesses had reported to the police that they had seen a white man with a muscular build, along with an SUV near the scene of two of the crimes around the same time.

The next night, between the hours of 7 and 10 p.m. another home in the Newport Beach area was burglarized. “The door was forced open in the same manner as the other homes,” Manzella said. The resident was not home at the time of the crime. According to Manzella, watches and several items of jewelry were stolen.
