A woman in South Central Indiana was arrested during a traffic stop when the police reportedly discovered she had drugs in her pocket and asserted that she was intoxicated.

Late in the evening on April 24, an officer from the Bedford Police Department pulled over the driver of a Yukon for reportedly violating several traffic laws. It was reported that the vehicle was seen crossing a double yellow line with only the driver’s side tires and then overcorrected, causing her to come close to crashing into a concrete wall. When talking to the driver, she told him she had just gotten off work. The officer believed she was moving and responding slowly, causing him to suspect she might be intoxicated.

The woman was cooperative with the officer, and when she got out of the vehicle, he noted that she dropped the things she was carrying. She also reportedly performed poorly when she took the roadside sobriety tests. An officer searched her, and they retrieved a pouch from her pocket. A total of 72 pills believed to be Alprazolam, almost half of which were only pieces, were allegedly found inside the pouch. The police reported that the woman voluntarily told them that she did not have a prescription for the medication, but that she had taken half a pill earlier that day.
