More Than a Dozen Charged in Heroin and Cocaine Delivery Service Bust

A business in Van Nuys that is suspected of selling drugs through a telephone operated delivery service led to sixteen people facing charges. The service is said to have been selling heroin and cocaine to purchasers phoning in personal orders, in addition to selling bulk amounts to a drug ring.

A 40-year-old man from Sylmar identified as Sigfredo Gurrola Barrientos is the alleged manager of the operation named Manny’s Delivery Service, and he supervised six others. They worked for the Van Nuys located operation by taking telephone orders, delivering of the narcotics in company designated vehicles, and a variety of other tasks pertaining to the service.

Starting at the end of August, recorded conversations monitored by law enforcement documented that those involved with the drug ring had procured numerous kilograms of heroin and hundreds of thousands of dollars. Pacoima resident Jacqueline De La Rosa, 24, allegedly obtained large amounts of the drugs which she stored in her home.

High School Students Record Teacher Snorting Drugs in Classroom

A high school teacher in Indiana has been accused of using drugs on school grounds inside of her classroom after students witnessed her snorting powder and one of them video recorded her on a cell phone.

Samantha Cox, an English teacher at Lake Central High School, had been inside of her empty classroom on Wednesday when she allegedly went into a corner where she believed she would not be seen in order to snort an illicit substance.

Students began to arrive outside of the classroom and they spotted Cox trying to be inconspicuous in the far corner. When they became aware of what she was doing one of them pulled out a cell phone and began documenting her drug use. The video was then uploaded to social media, but it has yet to be officially authenticated.

Orange County football coach charged with cocaine possession

A football coach at Santa Margarita Catholic High School has been arrested for possession of narcotics. The coach was detained for possessing a “powdery white substance” , suspected to be cocaine. The substance was found in a search of his vehicle by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. The coach was apparently not on campus or with students- the substance was found in a limousine in San Juan Capistrano, whereas the Catholic school is in Rancho Santa Margarita. He was, nonetheless, reportedly fired from his position as junior-varsity football coach and may face charges of both drug possession and being under the influence. This is the third coach from Santa Margarita Catholic High School to be accused of a drug offense in recent years.

Drug Policy in California sets various punishments depending on the substance in which a person illegally possesses. In this case, cocaine is found in Schedule 2 of The California Uniform Controlled Substances Act. It is illegal to possess under California Health and Safety Code 11350. Various sentences apply- from drug treatment programs to state prison incarceration.
