An Iowa woman was recently arrested after the authorities alleged she delivered a pan of lasagna that had been laced with a controlled substance to a family with the intent of causing a pregnant woman to miscarry.

According to a statement from the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office, deputies began investigating the incident in early January after receiving a report that a family-size tray of lasagna had allegedly been contaminated with a drug. Detectives from the sheriff’s office, working with multiple agencies, launched a lengthy investigation into the claim.

During the investigation, the authorities obtained and executed several search warrants to determine who was responsible for preparing and delivering the food. Investigators allegedly discovered that a 36-year-old woman and another individual had worked together to place a controlled substance in the lasagna before it was delivered to the family on December 28, 2025. Officials said the household included a pregnant woman.

As reported by the Irvine Police Department, after home video surveillance cameras picked up footage of a man stealing delivered packages off doorsteps in Irvine, authorities released photos and a video to news outlets in an attempt to locate the responsible party. 33-year-old Anthony Brian Palusso, a Mission Viejo resident, was identified at a local hotel by someone who had seen the video during a broadcast.
