After a Woodway man who was accused of sexually assaulting a child for six years was arrested, the youngster’s mother reportedly defended him and said the girl lied.
According to reports, on November 17, an 11-year-old girl who attends River Valley Elementary School went to a counselor and reported that she was being sexually abused at home by a man who lives with her. She reportedly said the 37-year-old would go out and return home very drunk, and though she tried to hide in her room, he would enter and sexually abuse her. She also told them it started when she was 5 years old and was ongoing. The school notified Child Protective Services to report the situation.
The McLennan Police Department opened a file, and investigators began to look into the claims. The investigators spoke to the child’s mother, who has two other youngsters, and she reportedly said that the man, who hadn’t worked in several years, stayed home and watched the kids while she went to work. Additionally, the woman alleged that her daughter made up the story about being sexually abused because she wanted to be sent to live with her grandparents. It was reported that she also allegedly defended the man and said he was an “idiot, immature, and inappropriate, but not a sexual predator.”
