A man out of jail on conditional release for charges related to an incident with his ex-girlfriend was arrested for many charges after allegedly breaking into her home and snatching her purse from her.

In 2021, after a particularly problematic breakup, a man in Gainesville, Florida, had an interaction with his ex that led to criminal charges for robbery by sudden snatching. The woman accused him of getting in her car without permission and stealing her car keys twice, in addition to grabbing her by the throat. When he went to court, it was determined that he needed outpatient mental health treatment so he would be seen as having the competency to go through the legal process.
