Three people are facing charges for allegedly stealing approximately $1 M in COVID-19 relief funds from the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). 

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Western District of North Carolina reported that during an investigation of a possible fraud case, it was discovered that between March and November 2021, almost $1 M was fraudulently taken from the PPP. 

It was believed that the money was stolen through many fraudulent applications that were submitted for PPP relief in different states for businesses that were not real.

A fast-food restaurant manager and his girlfriend allegedly stole a debit card that a customer accidentally left in the establishment and spent over $700 within two hours. 

On June 29, a customer at a Burger King in Royal Palm Beach, Florida, left the restaurant without taking their Wells Fargo debit card. 

When an employee found the card, they reportedly turned it over to the manager on duty.

A Delaware man was arrested after he allegedly robbed a Wells Fargo and then put the money into the ATM directly outside the bank. 

In the morning on December 11, a teller at a Wells Fargo in Wilmington reportedly had an encounter with a man assumed to be robbing money from the bank. 

The woman reported that she was slipped a piece of paper from the suspect informing her that he was robbing the bank and wanted $150.

A North Carolina Wells Fargo employee has been accused of stealing $90,000 from the financial institution after he was found posting images of himself on social media with large stacks of cash.

At the end of last April, 29-year-old Arlando Henderson accepted a job offer to work inside the cash vault at a Charlotte, North Carolina, branch of Wells Fargo bank.

A couple of months after Henderson started his new position, the man allegedly started swiping money that came from deposits made by customers of the bank.

A mother who had left her three children unattended at home for a time is facing charges after the authorities discovered the kids outdoors and allegedly very intoxicated.

On Monday, April 30, three young children from Gastonia, NC, were allegedly left at home alone while their mother went out. During their time without a responsible adult in charge, the juveniles reportedly discovered a bottle of Grey Goose vodka and decided to help themselves to the contents.

After allegedly consuming enough of the alcohol to result in what authorities reported as a “heavily intoxicated” state, the children left the home and wandered outside. While outdoors the eldest child, a 7-year-old girl, had defecated and then proceeded to pretend she was engaging in sexual behavior with one of her younger brothers. She additionally was said to have made an attempt to get into a laundry room and smashed the protective glass encasing a fire extinguisher in order to obtain the device.
