According to the authorities, a witness heard the woman screaming and rushed toward the scene. The bystander reportedly intervened and managed to pull the attacker away from the victim, giving both of them a chance to escape and contact emergency responders.

The woman was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The authorities said she suffered a broken orbital socket, deep cuts to her nose that required stitches, and permanent facial disfigurement. A witness later told local media the victim’s face was covered in blood when help arrived.

According to court documents, the teenager’s mother told investigators that her father had shot her son following a dispute connected to a household chore involving a fish house. Family members reportedly told investigators that the older man had become upset because the teenager had not stored the structure properly.

When deputies arrived at the residence, they reportedly found a woman outside suffering from a head injury, and she was bleeding. She allegedly told deputies that the suspect attacked her with the bat before going back inside the apartment.

The situation reportedly began when the 50-year-old entered a private beach area behind a condominium complex and asked to use a beach chair. Shortly after, the man allegedly picked up a drill that had a long sand-digging attachment and ran toward a person while yelling that he was going to kill him. Several people observed him running and described the tool as several feet long.

According to the authorities, the incident was reported shortly after 7:20 p.m. at a residence in Fulton. A caller told emergency dispatchers that a delivery driver had reportedly become upset, hit a person with a car, and then left the area.
