A former Florida news columnist and regular guest of Tucker Carlson was arrested for allegedly bilking her mother out of more than $200,000 after forcing her into an assisted living facility. 

51-year-old Catherine Areu Jones works under the name of Cathy Areu, and she used to be a columnist for the Washington Post. She hosted a podcast called Liberal Sherpa, and she used the name “Liberal Sherpa” on the occasions that she was a guest on Tucker Carlson’s show on Fox.  

Jones has an 88-year-old mother, and she used to have power of attorney, but it was reportedly revoked.

An Iowa man was arrested after allegedly placing several AirTags on a woman’s vehicle so he could track and stalk her. 

On December 5, a woman was driving her vehicle when the safety feature on an Apple AirTag sent a notification to let them know that their location was being tracked with the device. 

According to reports, the driver went directly to the police department in West Des Moines to tell them about the situation.

On August 13, a 32-year-old woman who previously lived with her father in The Villages returned to his residence after reportedly moving out six months prior. 

It was reported that the pair were not on good terms when she showed up, and the woman’s dad asked her to leave. She was allegedly unwilling to depart. 

The authorities were notified, and the woman reportedly tried to tell them that she was the owner of the dwelling, but she was unable to show them proof.

A man dressed as the Grinch was locked up after he allegedly had an altercation involving someone dressed as a reindeer, in addition to a staff member at a Michigan bar. 

On the evening of December 3, employees of an oil and gas company were holding a Christmas party at the bar at Hotel Indigo in Traverse City. 

Four of the people at the party reportedly started arguing, and the hotel staff became concerned.

According to reports, at approximately 10:30 PM on November 14, on-duty officers from the West Monroe Police saw a vehicle stopped at a stop sign. 

The officers performed a traffic stop, but nothing has been released about why they felt they should do so. 

When the police walked up to the vehicle, they saw the driver and a female passenger inside. They reported that they could smell marijuana inside the car.

A Florida man is facing several charges after he reportedly went on a crime spree involving having sexual intercourse with a dog, destroying a nativity scene at a church, and attempting to steal a vehicle. 

On December 4, a 36-year-old man from Orlando took his friend’s dog for a walk, and while they were out, he allegedly had sexual intercourse with the canine. 

People in the apartment complex, including a juvenile, reportedly saw the man in action, and one of them approached him.

An officer from Illinois was on vacation in Florida when a staff member at a hotel allegedly caught him urinating inside an ice machine intended for use by the guests.  

Late in the evening on December 4, a man later identified as a Chicago police officer was hanging out with his girlfriend at Jimmy B’s Beach Bar. The couple was on vacation in St. Petersburg. 

Just after midnight, the man reportedly went inside Jimmy B’s and walked up to the ice machine.

An allegedly inebriated Florida deputy is facing charges after a girl was struck by a bullet when he was trying to show his son how to clean an AR-15 rifle. 

On November 23, an off-duty St. Lucie County Sheriff’s deputy was reportedly at home with several children. 

According to reports, the man had been drinking, and he decided to teach his son how to properly clean an AR-15 rifle.

A man shopping at a Pinellas County Dollar Tree store with his wife allegedly slapped a store employee working at the checkout across the face after the woman called his spouse a “Karen.” 

On the evening of November 30, a Florida man and his wife went shopping at a Dollar Tree store in Clearwater. 

When they finished collecting their items and went to the checkout counter, the woman and the cashier began to engage in a verbal disagreement. It was reported that plastic grocery bags were the cause of the spat.

A Connecticut woman was arrested on several charges after she allegedly used the name of an incarcerated person to fraudulently collect $20,000 in unemployment benefits during the pandemic. 

According to reports, the Statewide Prosecution Bureau and the Unemployment Compensation Fraud Unit received notification from the State Department of Labor concerning possible unemployment fraud.  

The investigation reportedly revealed that between May and September 2020, an individual wrongfully and fraudulently collected $15,312 in unemployment benefits.
