Four children were taken into custody by the Los Angeles County Department of Child and Family Services on Tuesday when a child abuse investigation at their home uncovered illegal firearms and ammunition stored in the open and unsecured.

Paul Anthony Cruz, a father and convicted felon, was being interviewed by South Pasadena police at his home on January 23, due to suspicions that his children were being abused. A social worker from the Los Angeles County Department of Child and Family Services was also present.

While inside the home and speaking to the father, officers allegedly discovered a semi-automatic assault-style rifle that was fully loaded inside of the bedroom of one of the children. The social worker took custody of the four children residing with Cruz; three youngsters and one 11-year-old boy.

A Florida woman caught allegedly riding her horse while highly intoxicated in early November is now facing additional charges, and the loss of custody of her horse when a judge deemed she was unfit to provide proper care for the animal.

Donna Byrne was celebrating her 53rd birthday on November 2, when she had decided to ride her horse, Bo Duke, to a local store to buy herself spurs and spur straps.

A concerned person who saw Byrne contacted the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and reported that a woman who appeared disoriented was riding a horse down a busy road.

On Tuesday afternoon in Warren County, Kentucky, a school bus driver was involved in a traffic accident with another vehicle eleven minutes after dropping off the last of the 25 middle school and high school passengers on his route. He was suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol.

As stated in the police report, Warren County Public School bus driver Robert Marlette made impact with a Dodge truck traveling in the opposite direction as the bus at 4:01 p.m. When the sheriff’s department arrived at the scene a deputy spoke with the driver of the truck, and he claimed Marlette was driving the school bus down the center of the road when it crashed into him.

A deputy interviewing Marlette reported that the accused had bloodshot eyes and smelled of liquor. After a preliminary breath test showed positive results, he was issued a standard field sobriety test which he failed. Marlette was arrested and taken to the hospital for medical clearance, and while there he consented to a blood draw.

A Pennsylvania man, Andre Price, has been charged with child endangerment and the mother of his children has been charged with murder after she sent him angry text messages threatening to kill the children and a lifeless video of one child and he failed to respond.

The woman allegedly believed that Price wasn’t coming home so that he could be with another woman. In dozens of text messages she said “your kids ain’t safe here,” “come get them I don’t want them here” and “answer me or I am going to jail for child endangerment”. About an hour into the rant the woman allegedly sent a text message saying “I’m killing them,” followed by a laughing emoji with tears coming from its eyes. She then sent a lifeless video of the couple’s son.

The woman herself eventually called 911. Police found the boy dead on an air mattress. The woman has been charged with murder and child endangerment for endangering the life of the boys younger sister, who was present during the incident.

Having been born with Hirschsprung’s disease, the 9 year old boy was being treated at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Ohio. Hirschsprung’s disease affects the bowels and requires many surgeries, and in this case the use of a colostomy bag.
