A teenage girl walking to school on Monday was allegedly approached by a man in possession of a handgun who tried to force her into his vehicle. The man has pleaded not guilty to these accusations.

Garrett Evans Webber was driving near Ridgecrest Intermediate School in Rancho Palos Verdes when he believed something was hurled at his truck. Webber then reportedly exited his vehicle and accosted a 13-year-old on her way to school pointing a gun at her and trying to coerce her into his truck. The girl screamed and ran to the school, while witnesses recorded the truck’s license plate number and alerted the authorities.

Webber drove off and deputies searched the area for him, and during that period the school was locked down for safety reasons. He was found a short time later at his apartment where detectives also discovered several guns, and other evidence supporting the case that they did not disclose.

A California woman, Denise Huskins, described the “hell that we have survived” to her abductor, who was sentenced to 40 years in prison. The police originally dismissed this case as a hoax because it was so elaborate and downright bizarre.

Huskins was held for two days, after being kidnapped and sexually assaulted by the abductor, which she describes as physical and psychological torture. The disbarred lawyer, Matthew Muller, reportedly snatched her from her home in San Francisco two years ago.

“I still have nightmares every night,” she said, fighting back tears. “Sleep is not rest for me; it is a trigger.” Her boyfriend was bound and drugged during the kidnapping. He said “he can not and will not ever be the same.” U.S. District Judge Troy Nunley called the abduction a “heinous, atrocious, horrible crime” as he sentenced 39 year-old Muller. Muller faced up to life in prison, but prosecutors agreed to 40 years in exchange for his guilty plea. Muller’s lawyer wanted a 30 year sentence arguing that Muller had manic depression and could be rehabilitated with proper treatment.

In a carjacking incident in Westminster the carjacker claims he was not aware of the three children inside the vehicle. The children’s father had left the car idling in a parking spot in front of a water store while he went inside, only expecting to be in there a short time.

Thien Nguyen’s defense attorney, in his opening statement, acknowledged that his client stole the Lexus SUV from a Westminster parking lot and led the police on a chase through multiple red lights.

Nguyen’s attorney also admits that his client quickly realized that there was an 11 year old boy in the passenger seat. But his lawyer denies that Nguyen purposely kidnapped the two boys and a girl. His lawyer also denies that his client intentionally rammed into other cars.

According to a Las Vegas police arrest report, Tyree Wright had strict rules for his woman. She had to give him $2500 from her sex work earnings and would have to sit behind him in the back seat of his car. If she did not comply he would beat her.

Police say Wright started dating the woman in July 2014 and “convinced her to work for him as a prostitute and dancer.” Her name has not yet been released.

Although she was afraid of Wright, she continued on in the relationship out of desperation. She did try to leave him once and changed the locks on her doors but, she left the door unlocked and he found her. It’s alleged in the arrest report that Wright made a videotape of him beating her and put it on social media.

Michael Ikeler, 38, is charged with allegedly kidnapping a 2 year old girl on April 2, 2015, while her mother vacuumed her car at a Gardena car wash. The mother looked up to find that her child was gone. Ikeler allegedly sexually assaulted the toddler and dropped her out of his car a couple hours later in a parking lot outside a restaurant in Cudahy.

A woman testifying in Torrance Superior Court, Claudia Robles, stopped to cry for a minute while she recalled finding the girl abandoned and naked in a parking lot.

Robles said she spotted the girl as her boyfriend pulled into the parking lot to get dinner. Robles said she got out and took a photo because she felt like maybe the toddler had wandered off and she wanted to have evidence to build a child neglect case against the parents.
