Elementary School Ex-PTA Treasurer Suspected of Embezzling School Funds

The once-treasurer of the Herbert Hoover Elementary School’s Parent-Teacher Association has been accused of misappropriating money from the organization’s fund and is facing felony charges for the claims made against him.

As reported by a spokesperson for the Desert Sands Unified School District, $22,000 of the money raised by the Herbert PTA was observed as allegedly missing from their fund. The financial discrepancy was detected sometime during the summer months of last year.

34-year-old Danny Cervantes, the treasurer of the Herbert PTA during the 11-month period that the money came up missing, became the main suspect for the misappropriated cash. Cervantes is no longer the treasurer of the PTA but it is unknown whether that is related to the allegations against him.

Woman Suspected of DUI with Child in Car after Release from Rehab

A woman who was operating a vehicle with a child in the back seat was arrested on Thursday for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.

30-year-old Stephanie Roque of Miami was driving through Wellington, Florida, with a child passenger when she allegedly stopped her SUV while in the middle of a lane on the road.

A Palm Beach deputy saw the car in the middle of the street and ran a check on Roque’s license plate finding that the woman’s driving privileges had been revoked. When he walked up to Roque he reportedly detected a strong smell of alcohol coming from the SUV. He also stated that she seemed as if she was unable to remain focused while speaking to him.

Man Arrested as Suspect in Thefts from Three Orange County Classrooms

A 42-year-old man has been arrested after being identified as the possible perpetrator of stealing personal property from inside of classrooms at three different Orange County schools.

On January 11, a teacher at Irvine Baptist Church noticed that her wallet was missing from her purse, which she had left inside of an unoccupied classroom. She reported that her wallet contained money, her driver’s license, and a bank card.

The culprit’s image was seen when a review of the church surveillance video showed a man entering the classroom and shuffling through the woman’s bag before taking her wallet and exiting the room. The offender’s car, a white Chevy Malibu, was also seen in video footage from a parking lot camera.

Orange County Probation Officer Accused of Stealing Cash on the Job

46-year-old Juan Manuel Rodriguez is employed as an Orange County probation officer. While on assignment with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department Tactical Apprehension Team he has been suspected of taking money from the residents of the homes where he assisted in serving search warrants.

On August 8 Rodriguez visited a residence in Santa Ana in order to serve a search warrant. The person being served was distracted during the period that Rodriguez was inspecting their identification card, and they claimed that $150 had gone missing from their wallet. The victim alerted one of the sheriff’s deputies on site immediately after noticing the money was gone.

According to prosecutors, sheriff’s officials made the decision to organize a sting operation two days after the incident was reported in an attempt to apprehend the offender. A vehicle was rigged with a hidden surveillance camera and $1,200 was planted inside.

Incarcerated Mother Seeking Legal Representation Denies Accusations of Child Abuse

A Phoenix mother who was found by police nearly two weeks after family members reported that she and her three-year-old son were missing has been accused of child abuse. She denies the allegations and is seeking a lawyer to help defend her innocence.

When law enforcement located Taquila Wilson and her son they noticed he had several blemishes on his body that they believed were injuries. Wilson was questioned about the marks, and she told police that her child suffers from a skin disease.

Officers also believed the toddler suffered from “Cauliflower Ear,” which is often caused by physical trauma. Medical staff at Phoenix Children’s Hospital examined the child and they agreed with the police’s initial assessment.

Girl Sexually Assaulted While at Least 40 People Watch Live on Facebook

On Tuesday, Chicago police reported that they were looking for five to six men who allegedly sexually assaulted a 15 year old girl, while it was being streamed live on Facebook.

The teen had been missing since Sunday night. The girl’s mother had gone to the police on Monday and approached Sgt. Eddie Johnson as he was leaving a news conference, with a screenshot from the live video of the assault. The girl was then found by Chicago detectives on Tuesday.

It is reported that dozens of people had watched the assault live on Facebook’s live feed but none reported the incident to police. The video has since been removed from the site.
