A Salvation Army bell ringer was accused of trying to spear a Publix manager with a donation stand after allegedly causing a disturbance outside a Florida grocery store on Christmas Eve.

On December 24, the incident happened outside a Publix in Stuart, where a 63-year-old man was working as a seasonal Salvation Army bell ringer performing part-time Christmas charity work. The situation reportedly escalated when the man allegedly began aggressively confronting people as they entered and exited the store. His behavior was reportedly concerning to the employees, and a store manager eventually stepped outside in an attempt to address the disturbance and speak with the bell ringer about his conduct. According to reports, the man appeared to be intoxicated at the time.

The authorities said the interaction did not go as the manager planned, and instead of de-escalating, the man allegedly became violent. Investigators reported that he attempted to impale the manager using the metal tripod that supports the Salvation Army donation kettle. The manager was not injured during the encounter. After the alleged confrontation, the suspect reportedly left the area before deputies arrived at the scene. Law enforcement later located him at his residence, where he was taken into custody.

A Florida man was arrested after he was involved in a traffic accident and identified as the suspect involved in a case regarding a police officer’s stolen IRS refund check.

At the beginning of the summer, a police officer was awaiting the direct deposit of his IRS refund. He reported that it never showed up in his bank account, and he contacted the IRS about the situation. He was informed that they had mailed his refund instead of issuing it through direct deposit. The officer said he did not receive it, and they told him their records indicated it had already been cashed.

An investigation was opened, and the $20,694 check was traced to a local SoFi Bank. When the financial institution checked their records, they tracked down the check in an account that was opened in July 2023. They also reportedly discovered there were multiple transactions involving cashed United States Treasury checks that appeared to have been made out in the name of the account holder. They learned that money was taken out using ATMs, and several purchases of money orders were tracked to a few different Publix markets. The police checked the surveillance recordings from the stores, and they believed the suspect was a 34-year-old man from Coral Springs. An arrest warrant was activated.

A Florida man recently found himself jailed and charged with multiple counts of video voyeurism after being accused of secretly recording women in public spaces over several years by using a cell phone hidden in a shopping basket to record under women’s skirts.

According to reports, on July 21, a woman was shopping at Publix Market Square in Gainesville. While she was browsing, she felt a shopping basket touch her leg under her skirt. When she looked down, she believed she saw a cell phone in the basket, and the camera lens was pointing upwards. When she tried to talk to the man, he reportedly walked away without responding. As he left the store, she watched him get into a vehicle and she jotted down the license plate number.

The authorities were notified, and a deputy from the Alachua County Sheriff’s Department spoke with the alleged victim. After she told them what happened and gave them the license plate number, they collected surveillance footage from the store. It was reported that the video showed the man putting the phone in the basket and angling it so that it was aimed up the woman’s skirt.
