The parents of a 3-year-old were arrested when the youngster was found on the roof of their residence while they were reportedly passed out after allegedly staying up all night to play video games and smoke marijuana.

According to reports, around 8:00 PM on April 9, the mother and father of two children, ages 3 and 1, checked on the youngsters before relaxing in their Glenville, West Virginia, home for the evening. They reportedly smoked marijuana and decided to play video games, and they ended up staying up all night. At some point, presumably while his parents were asleep, the 3-year-old managed to get out of his room and climb onto the roof of the dwelling. It was not reported how long the child was up there, but late the following morning, the police began receiving calls from people who saw him on the roof.

Just before noon, officers with the Glenville Police Department went to the address, and the youngster was still on the roof. The officers entered the home, but did not immediately find the parents. They reported that the house was dirty and had excrement smeared on the walls, and that they found the 1-year-old, whom they said “smelled of feces and urine.” The police reported that they went into the 3-year-old’s room, which allegedly had a lock on the outside of the door, and saw a broken window. They surmised that the youngster climbed out the window and made his way to the roof. While it was noted that the boy, who also smelled like he had soiled himself, was cold and wet because it was raining outside, there are currently no reports of physical injuries.

On the morning of February 24, a 35-year-old woman from East Hartford was driving on the Interstate with a 2-year-old in her vehicle. The parents of a 15-year-old girl are facing many charges after allegedly locking her in a chicken coop for months and feeding her only packages of ramen.

It was reported that last September, Child Protective Services was contacted by a 15-year-old girl who told them that her parents had been locking her in a chicken coop for several months. They notified the Farmington Police Department to report the situation, which reportedly involved a couple who was believed to be abusing their teenage daughter, and an investigation was opened. The couple allegedly treated the other children well, but they were reportedly subjecting the young woman to horrible abuse.

According to reports, the teen was locked inside a chicken coop for long periods, even during times of inclement weather, in which she was forced to stay on her feet. She was reportedly fed nothing but packages of ramen, though the rest of the family ate normal meals. Additionally, her parents allegedly only let her use the bathroom twice a day. A woman from Voss, Texas, has been arrested in Tarrant County on allegations of abusing her 7-year-old granddaughter, whom she had been caring for since the girl was an infant.

According to reports, the child was hospitalized at Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth in August 2023. She was reportedly suffering from severe dehydration, vomiting, and diarrhea. When she was checked, medical staff found ulcers in her gastrointestinal tract in addition to damage to her intestines and colon. They were unable to diagnose a specific medical condition based on the youngster’s symptoms. As part of her treatment, doctors used a gastric feeding tube to give her medication.

During the medical interventions, the child’s condition got better and then worsened, but the doctors could not find a reason. In January 2024, family members became concerned and suspected the grandmother could be harming the child. They reported their concerns, and the grandmother was told she could no longer stay at the hospital because she was not the youngster’s legal guardian. According to the doctors, the child’s health improved significantly after her grandmother left. It was reported that the authorities believe the child’s grandmother may have been poisoning her by putting Mean Green Degreaser cleaner in her feeding tube.
