Authorities reported that they responded to an incident on Monday involving a plastic toy gun employed as a makeshift weapon in an alleged attack after a Florida dog owner used it against a man whose canine was bitten by his dog.

Near 8 p.m. on March 12 31-year-old Thomas Phillips from Gainesville was strolling with his unleashed dog in an area of the Lake Crossing Apartments complex designated as a dog run. 33-year-old Matthew Hester was out for a walk with his dog in the same area, but his dog was contained on a leash.

In an email exchange that turned sour, a former student of Soka University allegedly sent an instructor links to a menacing vlog he had recorded. In the video the man spoke of his desire to execute a mass shooting. The Orange County Sheriff’s Department announced that he was apprehended on Monday.

David Kenneth Smith attended Soka University, a private college in Aliso Viejo, nearly a decade ago. In 2008 he was accused of smoking marijuana and he was handed down disciplinary actions for his alleged infraction.

The instructor on the receiving end of the email exchange with Smith was involved in assigning the consequences for the marijuana use. Orange County Sherriff’s Department deputies reported that when the accused became discontented with the correspondence he sent a link to a YouTube video containing footage of himself laying in a bathtub while holding a semiautomatic pistol against his chest as he spoke about the university. In the video Smith discussed the way university staff was regularly unkind to him, and he claims during his enrollment there he was wrongfully fined for and accused of violations he did not commit.

According to a Las Vegas police arrest report, Tyree Wright had strict rules for his woman. She had to give him $2500 from her sex work earnings and would have to sit behind him in the back seat of his car. If she did not comply he would beat her.

Police say Wright started dating the woman in July 2014 and “convinced her to work for him as a prostitute and dancer.” Her name has not yet been released.

Although she was afraid of Wright, she continued on in the relationship out of desperation. She did try to leave him once and changed the locks on her doors but, she left the door unlocked and he found her. It’s alleged in the arrest report that Wright made a videotape of him beating her and put it on social media.
