A woman who was riding the Metro train on Monday was resting her foot on the edge of her seat when she was approached by a police officer. After being deemed uncooperative she was removed from the train by the officer for arrest, and she has claimed that he used an unnecessary amount of force during the process.

When North Hollywood resident Bethany Renee Nava, 18, was aboard the Metro Red Line train on January 22, she placed the heel of her shoe on the edge of her seat. “Placing feet or shoes on seats or furnishings” is a violation of the customer code of conduct, as stated by Metro, and may lead to a warning with the possibility of being ejected from the train.

Nava was seen by an LAPD officer and he approached her about her infraction. Brock Bryan, another passenger on the train, recorded the interaction between Nava and the officer with his cell phone. The footage depicted the officer grabbing the student by her arm and forcing her toward the door of the train, as she tells him to stop while attempting to collect her belongings. An employee who used to work for the clothing store Forever 21 discovered video camera footage on various pornographic websites of herself using the employee bathroom. She is suing the company for negligence and invasion of privacy alleging that they should be held accountable for failing to prevent the camera’s placement and protecting the privacy of their workers. The victim also filed for an order protecting her identity as she wishes to remain anonymous.

In 2011 the woman was attending Providence College in Rhode Island while working at Forever 21. A single-stall employee bathroom shared by staff members reportedly contained a hidden camera, which the victim claimed as the source of the videos circulating the internet. She discovered the footage at the end of last year.

Court documents reflect in the woman’s complaint that Forever 21 failed to provide security of any type in order to monitor and protect against the placement of the camera, and though the restroom was intended for the sole use of employees they have no way to be sure an unauthorized person or persons did not enter the lavatory.

From July 2011 through July 2014 a Lynwood physician allegedly prescribed narcotic prescriptions in large amounts and accepted cash payments for the transactions. The patients receiving the medication did not receive regular examinations and it is suspected that many of them did not have a medical need for the pills. He is accused of using his practice to make illegal drug deals.

Dr. Edward Ridgill has been accused of prescribing and selling considerable amounts of Norco, Xanax and Soma pills, which are dubbed the “trinity” by drug users due to the high achieved by consuming the opiate, sedative and muscle relaxer at the same time. It is reported that he handed out over 21,000 prescriptions during a three year period.

A DEA task force began an investigation on Ridgill employing anonymous sources who made appointments with the doctor and were fitted with surveillance cameras hidden inside of cups, buttons, hats and purses prior to their visits. The collected videos depicted the visits of the undercover mock patients where Ridgill prescribed and accepted cash payment for the drugs, and in some cases no examination was performed. In an email exchange that turned sour, a former student of Soka University allegedly sent an instructor links to a menacing vlog he had recorded. In the video the man spoke of his desire to execute a mass shooting. The Orange County Sheriff’s Department announced that he was apprehended on Monday.

David Kenneth Smith attended Soka University, a private college in Aliso Viejo, nearly a decade ago. In 2008 he was accused of smoking marijuana and he was handed down disciplinary actions for his alleged infraction.

The instructor on the receiving end of the email exchange with Smith was involved in assigning the consequences for the marijuana use. Orange County Sherriff’s Department deputies reported that when the accused became discontented with the correspondence he sent a link to a YouTube video containing footage of himself laying in a bathtub while holding a semiautomatic pistol against his chest as he spoke about the university. In the video Smith discussed the way university staff was regularly unkind to him, and he claims during his enrollment there he was wrongfully fined for and accused of violations he did not commit.
