A Lee County deputy is one of three people facing charges for allegedly working together to plant drugs on a suspect to set him up for an unlawful arrest. 

Niko Irizarry began working for the Lee County Sheriff’s Office in 2018. The sheriff reported that Irizarry had never been reprimanded in his time with the agency.  

On December 16, 2021, Irizarry and two other men identified as 36-year-old Charles Custodio and 29-year-old Scott Snider allegedly orchestrated a plan to target a real estate agent for drug crimes.

When the police allegedly caught a Florida man holding drugs and several hypodermic needles, he reportedly told them he had the syringes to use while fishing. 

30-year-old Eric Bennett is a lawn care worker who resides in Vero Beach. 

According to reports, in the early afternoon on January 22, Bennett walked to a local mobile park where his uncle lives.

A man with a criminal history was allegedly found with drugs in the pants he was wearing, and he claimed that they belonged to a man who is significantly shorter than himself. 

37-year-old Brandon Cihak resides in Minnesota, and he is an ex-convict on probation. 

Late in the morning on January 5, Cihak was reportedly driving a Ford F-150 in Mankato with a person sitting in the passenger’s seat.

When the police reportedly found a package of drugs wrapped around a man’s penis, he said it did not belong to him. 

Early in the morning on December 18, 27-year-old Darius Owens was driving in Clearwater, Florida. It was reported that 34-year-old Patrick Florence, a resident of St. Petersburg, was riding in the front passenger seat.  

At approximately 4:00 am, an officer saw the vehicle Owens was driving, and reported that the headlights and taillights were not turned on.

An 81-year-old pharmacist allegedly traded more than one person his drug inventory from his establishment for sexual favors.

Martin Brian owns and operates Murray-Overhill Pharmacy in Media, Pennsylvania. It is reported that his store is no longer open.

In April, the local authorities were notified about two people in a parked car behind Brian’s pharmacy. The caller told the police that the people were unconscious.

A woman who operates a Florida fentanyl rehabilitation center was arrested for allegedly selling drugs to the patients at the facility.

50-year-old Misty Leigh Gilley is the manager and owner of Simply Recovery LLC in Altamonte Springs.

The website for the facility says they aid with many aspects of recovery, including medication maintenance and management.

A man in Missouri was arrested after reportedly placing an ad with a photo on Facebook Marketplace with drugs showing in the background.

38-year-old James Kertz resides in Reed Springs, Missouri. He has previously been convicted of several felonies for a variety of criminal infractions, such as drug and domestic violence-related illegal activity.

At the end of September, Kertz reportedly decided to seek a buyer for a catalytic converter by placing an ad on Facebook Marketplace. It is reported that he included a photograph of the item with the post.

A South Carolina women’s prison guard was accused of trying to distribute narcotics to inmates by hiding them inside Rice Krispies Treats to sneak them into the facility.

43-year-old Marcy Shaffer lives in Columbia. She was employed by the South Carolina Department of Corrections as a women’s state prison guard at the Camille Graham Correctional Institution.

On July 1, Shaffer was entering the facility, and she was reportedly carrying a plastic bag filled with Rice Krispies Treats.

A Florida woman wearing a “Trump 2016” shirt allegedly battered four nurses in the emergency room while they were trying to administer treatment.

Just after midnight on June 18, 28-year-old Roseanna Denton was in the company of her parents when she reportedly started behaving unusually.

Denton’s mother and father became concerned that their daughter might have taken a dangerous amount of drugs, and they decided to bring her to the emergency room for assessment.

The parents of a 4-year-old were reportedly discovered sleeping with a baby and drugs in their residence while their toddler left the dwelling alone and went into a neighbor’s home.

22-year-old Tapanga McCartney and 24-year-old Thomas Raymond live in Ridgebury County, Pennsylvania, with a 1-year-old daughter and 4-year-old son.

On April 12, the Pennsylvania State Police received a report from the neighbor of the family to alert them that the young boy was in her house without any clothing other than a diaper.
